Review of Precious

To widen my knowledge on the Drama genre, I borrowed the 'Precious' DVD from a family member to get a better understanding of mother-daughter abuse.

'Precious' was released in 2009 and is about an obese, abused teenager who is about to have her second child but after changing schools and having finds out she can change around her life for the better.

At first I wasn't sure if I would have liked this film as it was different from the other drama films I usually watch however as a watched more of the film it gave an insight of a teenage girl with an abusive mother who hardly pays her any mind and how not having a loving mother can affect a child. I also liked this film as Mariah Carey was in it.

This movie was also produced by Lions Gate Entertainment which is an independent company, I found this a bit shocking as it included a few big named stars such as Mariah Carey, Mo'Nique and Paula Patton
